Waking up in Kaza is an exercise in slow motion. You don’t just jump out of bed, you sit up, wait for your racing pulse to settle, take a deep breath of ice-cold air, and remind yourself to move with intention.
Today’s itinerary was a punishing loop through the highest inhabited pockets of the world. We were leaving the valley floor to push our bodies to the literal ceiling of the earth.
In the flickering amber glow of the setting sun, we stood shoulder-to-shoulder, forming an almost perfect circle.
