Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is an observatory, created for the purpose of studying the universe in 1734 AD. A collection of multiple astronomical instruments, Jantar Mantar, is a testament to not only the scientific prowess of the Rajputs, but also provides a glimpse of the hunger of knowledge our ancestors had.
Also known as the pink city, Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan is a beautiful place to spend a weekend. The uniformly colored pink buildings are a breathtaking sight to experience while the magnificent palaces and forts add the much needed touch of royalty.
Flush with historic monuments and ruins, the small town of Murshidabad, is a treat for any history buff. The colonial era structures that dot the town, offers a different and unique experience as such architecture is not seen anywhere else in India.
West Bengal has had a rich history of terracotta temples, which are sprinkled throughout the state. The most popular ones among these are in Bishnupur, however Baranagar near Murshidabad is a hidden ge, in that regard which also has a fair share of these terracotta masterpieces.
A remnant of the Nawabi times of India, Hazarduari Palace is the most prominent landmark of Murshidabad, West Bengal. This monument and the town itself is like a time capsule, that transports anyone visiting this place to it’s glorious past, when this palace used to be the centre of the whole Bengal Province.
Bhubaneswar is known as the temple city of India, owing to the vast number of temples the city boasts of. While exploring the Temples however, tourists and pilgrims alike, visit only the Lingaraj Temple complex, missing out on the other beautiful and intriguing temples lurking just a few Kilometres away.
Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of Kerala, and is home to the erstwhile Travancore kingdom. It is not a massive tourism magnate like the biggest city of the state Kochi, however it does boast of some truly amazing things that needs to be explored and experienced. These experiences are quite exclusive to Gangtok and hence must be explored when in the state.
At a dizzing 5154 mtr above sea level, Gurudongmar Lake is highest fresh water lake in the world, which civilians are allowed to visit. The blue lake, offers breathtaking views of snow capped mountains and an endless tundra landscape.
